— On Lion and Longing

In this lecture-performance, I further develop my research on the symbol of the lion and examine the relationship between the image of the predator and the cultural ideal of “heroic courage.” The work explores how the longing for a lost symbol continues to shape heroic narratives and notions of identity, even after its physical counterpart has long disappeared.

The performance combines art historical analysis with personal narration, questioning the power of absent symbols and their role in shaping collective imagination and identity in contemporary society.
