So Far, Yet So Close*

So Far, Yet So Close* is a manipulation of my own pictures from the book “So Close, Yet So Far”. It is an investigation of “identity” and the question of “expectation,” perhaps also the contentious issue of who is doing the representing and what is to be represented. The idea for these collages came about when a renowned German curator took my notebook during a portfolio review and wrote to me: “Sei Stolz auf Iranerin zu sein (Be proud to be Iranian)”.

       
          

*خیلی دور، خیلی نزدیک



 خیلی دور، خیلی نزدیک دستکاری تصاویر خودم از کتاب خیلی نزدیک، خیلی دور است. کنکاشی است در مورد مسئله هویت و چگونگی بازنمایی آن

ایده ی این کلاژها زمانی شکل گرفت که یک نمایشگاه گردان آلمانی در حین بررسی نمونه کارهایم مدعی شد که عکس های من ابدا ایران را بازنمایی نمیکنند سپس دفترچه یادداشت ام را برداشت و برایم نوشت: به ایرانی بودن خود افتخار کن
