Self-Portrait

Hengame Hosseini is an artist and curator based in Tehran, with ongoing engagements between Iran and Germany. Her practice moves across image-making, archival research, and experimental curatorial formats to explore themes of memory, urban erasure, and the politics of visibility. Through photography, video, publications, and collective research, she reflects on how histories—particularly those of marginalized spaces and communities—are constructed, suppressed, or remembered.

Her expanded curatorial work is rooted in collaboration and often takes the form of independent exhibitions, performative presentations, and publishing initiatives. She is the co-initiator of Pocket, a curatorial publication platform, and Parallel Wor[l]ds, a traveling photobook project engaging with local visual cultures. Her projects have been shown in various art spaces in Iran and internationally, and she continues to contribute to wider conversations through lectures, workshops, and academic seminars.
